ESC Partners with Habitat for Humanity for Rock the Block Community Volunteer Day

At ESC, giving back is an intentional part of who we are. Throughout the year, our team members volunteer their time and talent across the community, proudly representing ESC through our ongoing Giving and Community Outreach initiatives.

This fall, nine ESC team members participated in Rock the Block, a neighborhood revitalization effort led by Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, Missouri. The event brought together volunteers from across the region to support residents in Woodland Heights, a historic neighborhood with deep community roots.

Making a Visible Difference in Woodland Heights

Rock the Block focuses on improving the exterior conditions of homes for neighbors who may not have the ability to manage the work themselves, many of whom are elderly or disabled. Tasks throughout the day included:

  • Mowing and trimming

  • Cutting back overgrown branches

  • Weeding and clearing brush

  • Hauling away debris

  • General outdoor cleanup and improvement

Despite the long list of needs, more than 40 homes in total, ESC’s volunteers were able to make a significant dent, completing work on a quarter of the properties assigned by Habitat for Humanity.

“Rock the Block is more than yard work—it’s about neighbors helping neighbors,” Habitat representatives shared. “Every hour volunteers give brings us closer to stronger, healthier, and more vibrant neighborhoods.”

ESC Volunteers Step Up to Serve

We’re proud to recognize our ESC team members who participated:

Brandon, Joel, Kyle, Nghiep, Jack, Willy, Thomas, Mike, and Jeremy

Their willingness to jump in, roll up their sleeves, and support local families reflects the spirit of service we value deeply at ESC.

Kyle summed it up well:

“We are continuously working to improve our neighborhood and are glad to participate in this event.”

Why This Work Matters

Rock the Block has become one of Habitat for Humanity’s cornerstone programs in Springfield, completing dozens of improvement projects that help restore pride, safety, and comfort in local neighborhoods.

ESC’s involvement underscores our commitment to:

  • Supporting the communities where we live and work

  • Building meaningful relationships with local organizations

  • Encouraging service-minded leadership within our team

  • Making a real, measurable impact right where it’s needed most

From trimming hedges to hauling away debris, every hour donated helps families feel more at home, and that’s work that truly matters.

Looking Ahead

As ESC continues to grow, so does our commitment to community partnership. We’re grateful to Habitat for Humanity for hosting this event and to our volunteers for representing ESC with pride, compassion, and hard work.

Most of all, thank you to our neighbors in Woodland Heights for welcoming us into their community. We’re honored to support the place they call home.
